Suppliers
Fremtind works with a wide range of suppliers in claims handling for customers nationwide. We also procure goods and services for our offices, IT and other operations. To ensure our suppliers prioritise fair treatment and safe, healthy working environments for their employees, we include a dedicated contract schedule titled "Supplier Requirements on Sustainability and Business Ethics" in our supplier agreements.
In our annual due diligence statements under the Norwegian Transparency Act (Åpenhetsloven), we report on supplier oversight and measures to promote fundamental human rights and decent working conditions. By fundamental human rights we mean the internationally recognised rights set out, among others, in the UN International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966), the UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966), and the ILO Core Conventions on fundamental principles and rights at work. By decent working conditions we mean work that safeguards fundamental human rights and health, safety and the working environment (HSE), and provides a living wage.
Through risk assessments, we determine where the likelihood of breaches of human rights or decent working conditions is greatest. These assessments are carried out before entering into new procurement contracts, when revising existing contracts, and regularly throughout the contract term. Based on country risk, sector and product risk, and other relevant factors, we identify priority risks and the need for additional enquiries to prevent breaches of human rights or decent working conditions.
Our Group’s common approach is set out in the following governing documents (see Sustainability Library):
- Sustainability Policy
- Guideline for Safeguarding Human Rights and Decent Working Conditions
